As ELCA Lutherans We Believe….

In the Triune God—Father, Son & Holy Spirit.

  • We believe that God is the Creator of the universe, the earth and all of its creatures, including us. God continues to provide for us and cares for the world.

  • We believe in the life, death and resurrection of God’s Son, Our Savior, Jesus Christ. God sent Jesus to be born as a human and live among us. During his ministry Jesus preached the Word of God and taught us to follow in God’s ways. The depth of God’s love was revealed through Christ’s death on the cross, and through Christ’s resurrection we believe we have received forgiveness and eternal life. Through Jesus we believe that there is nothing—not even Sin and Death—that can separate us from God’s love. We believe that Jesus will one day return.

  • We believe in the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit, poured out upon us in baptism, is what inspires faith within each of us and empowers us as Christians to love God and serve our neighbors as we seek to reflect God’s love to the world.

We Believe in Grace.

We do not earn God’s love by proving that we are “good enough.” Rather, we receive God’s love and salvation as a freely given gift. We receive that gift in faith and live our lives in a way that gives thanks and praise to God and tells others of God’s love.

We Believe in the “Priesthood of All Believers.”

We believe that all people are called to serve God in unique ways. We seek to do all things to the glory of God in our daily lives—whether at work, school, home or play. We all have something valuable to offer as we serve God and neighbor together.

We Practice Baptism and Holy Communion.

We believe in one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. In baptism we are claimed as God’s children and receive the Holy Spirit.

During Holy Communion we receive the body and blood of Christ. Christ is truly present in the bread and the wine and we are reminded that we have been offered salvation through the death and resurrection of Jesus.

The Lutheran Rose was created in the 1500s by Martin Luther. The black cross in the center reminds us of Christ Crucified while the red heart represents the joy, comfort and peace we receive through faith. The white rose is in a blue circle as a symbol of heaven, while the gold is a sign of God’s eternal reign.
